Packing materials and boxes
When you book a packing service, the materials come with it. Crews arrive with everything the job
needs rather than leaving you to estimate box counts in advance. These are the materials we use:
- Small boxes – books, tinned food, tools and anything dense. Small boxes exist so
that heavy things stay liftable. - Medium boxes – the general-purpose box for kitchenware, toys, small appliances
and the contents of most drawers. - Large boxes – bedding, cushions, lampshades and light bulky items.
- Wardrobe boxes – hanging clothes travel on the rail, so they arrive ready to
hang rather than needing to be ironed. - Dish and glass packs – divided inserts for plates, stemware and glassware.
- Mattress and sofa covers – keep upholstery clean through the truck and any
storage period. - Wrapping – packing paper, bubble wrap, stretch wrap and furniture pads.
- Tape and labels – room-coded labelling so boxes are placed, not just delivered.

How many boxes will I need?
Box counts depend on how much you own rather than the size of the home, so treat any online
calculator as a starting point. A useful rule when packing yourself: a box you cannot comfortably
lift is too heavy and will fail at the bottom. Move the heavy items into smaller boxes and fill the
large ones with light bulk. Our guides on

Do I need to provide my own boxes for packing services?
Nope! We’ve got you covered. Our movers bring sturdy boxes (reusable or recyclable), packing materials, labelling tools, and everything needed to get your items wrapped and ready. That way, you don’t have to spend your last week at home begging the grocery store for extra boxes.
What do you use to protect my items?
We treat every item like it’s our own. Our movers use high-quality wrapping, padding, and smart packing techniques to protect artwork, antiques, family treasures, and all those fragile items you’d rather not replace. With our moving services, you’ll know your belongings are in careful hands from start to finish.
When should I call MOVE IT RIGHT for packing services?
We suggest reaching out 6 to 8 weeks before your moving day so our moving company can plan everything perfectly. Even if you only need a few items packed, advance notice gives our movers the time to make your experience smooth and stress-free.
Are there any items you can’t pack?
Yes. For safety and insurance reasons, our moving company can’t pack hazardous items such as flammable liquids, explosives, or perishable foods. We also don’t handle oversized specialty items like jacuzzis.

Can I leave smaller items in bigger furniture pieces for you to pack?
It’s best not to. Leaving heavy or fragile items inside furniture can damage both the item and the piece of furniture. Plus, we want to keep you safe, no surprise avalanches when we move your dresser!
Can I change my packing day?
Absolutely! Life happens. You can reschedule packing services up to 48 hours in advance. Just give MOVE IT RIGHT a call, and our movers will adjust everything so your moving day stays right on track.
