Moving a retail store
A retail move is measured in days closed, and every one of them costs revenue. Most of our retail
work runs overnight or across the quietest days of the week so the shutters are up again as fast as
possible.
Fixtures and displays
Shelving, gondolas, rails, counters, mannequins and display units come apart and go back together
in a set order. Fixtures are labelled by zone so the new floor is built to plan rather than
improvised.
Stock
Stock moves boxed and labelled by category so it can be put out rather than sorted. If you run a
live inventory system, agree a freeze point before the move and reconcile afterwards rather than
trying to keep it accurate mid-move.
Point of sale and back office
Tills, card terminals, safes and back-office equipment are handled separately from stock. Anything
that needs a payment provider or vendor to reconnect should be booked with them for the morning you
reopen, not the afternoon.
Mall and shopping centre moves
Retail units inside malls and shopping centres come with their own rules, and they are usually
stricter than a street-front store. Loading access is often restricted to set overnight hours, the
service corridor and freight elevator have to be booked through centre management, and a certificate
of insurance naming the centre is normally required before any of it is released. Send us the centre
management requirements when you book and we handle the paperwork in advance.
