Moving a single item
Not every job is a whole house. A large share of what we do is one item: a sofa that will not fit
through the new door, a piano, a fridge, a treadmill, a safe, or a wardrobe bought secondhand that
needs collecting across the city. Single-item moves are quoted on a minimum charge rather than a
full-day rate, so call +1-866-558-8564 with the item, the two
addresses and the access at each end.
The things that decide a single-item job are always the same: what it weighs, whether it comes
apart, how many stairs are involved, and whether there is a lift. Send a photo of the item and the
route it has to travel and we can tell you quickly whether it is a two-person or three-person
job.
In-home furniture moving
Sometimes nothing is leaving the building at all. Moving a bedroom upstairs, clearing a room for
flooring or painting, shifting heavy furniture so a carpet can be replaced, or rearranging a living
room that two people cannot safely lift alone. We do those jobs, and they are usually short.
This is also the safest option for anything heavy on stairs. Most furniture damage in the home
happens when people try to move a wardrobe or a sofa bed with one person too few.

Disassembly and reassembly
Most large furniture moves better in pieces, and the crew handles taking it apart and rebuilding
it at the other end. Hardware is bagged and labelled per item so the rebuild is straightforward.
Flat-pack furniture is worth flagging when you book: some of it does not survive being taken apart
and reassembled more than once, and it is better to know that before moving day than after.

Are there any items you won’t transport?
Yes, for safety and insurance reasons, some items can’t be moved. These include explosives, flammable liquids, hazardous materials, and perishable foods. We also don’t handle oversized specialty items such as hot tubs or jacuzzis.
