Why Toronto Keeps Choosing Us

Toronto’s a great city but let’s be real, moving through it isn’t. Between the gridlock on King Street, the one-way confusion around Bay and Bloor, and the condo loading zones tucked off Spadina or Yonge Street, even a short move can feel like a marathon. Our movers know downtown Toronto like the back of their hand, including all local Toronto regulations and bylaws that come with moving. We plan around rush-hour traffic, coordinate with building management at places like Queen’s Quay or Liberty Village, and take care of every tricky parking permit or elevator schedule so you don’t have to.

Save yourself the stress and let the pros at MOVE IT RIGHT handle your next move in Toronto: efficiently, safely, and without the chaos.

  • Door to Door Moving: We charge from your old to new location!
  • Backup Trucks: Because sometimes things don’t go as planned, and we’re ready for that.
  • Transparent Pricing: We don’t keep secrets. Our honest pricing is displayed on every page for transparency.
  • Flexible Hours: We work 7 days a week, day and night.
  • 5-Star Reviews: Don’t just take our word for it. Our happy customers say it better than we ever could.

Toronto moving questions

How much do movers cost in Toronto?

Move It Right crews in Toronto start at $135 per hour. What you pay depends on crew size, the length of the job and any add-ons like packing or storage. Call +1-866-558-8564 for a quote on your specific move.

Do I need a parking permit for a moving truck in Toronto?

On many Toronto streets, yes. The City of Toronto issues temporary street occupation permits for moving trucks, and they need to be arranged before moving day. Check the requirement for your street with the City before you book.

How do I book a condo elevator for moving day?

Contact your building’s property manager or concierge as soon as you have a moving date. Most Toronto buildings book the service elevator in set time blocks and busy buildings fill weeks ahead. Tell us the booked window and the crew works to it.

Do Toronto condos require a certificate of insurance from movers?

Most do. Property managers usually ask for a certificate naming the building before they release the elevator. Move It Right provides one on request, so send us the building’s requirements when you book.

How far in advance should I book movers in Toronto?

Month-end dates and the May to September window book first, so give as much notice as you can. Midweek and mid-month dates are often available on shorter notice.

Toronto neighbourhoods we move

Move It Right works across the whole city from our base at 205 Geary Ave. These are the areas we
are booked in most often.

  • Liberty Village and King West
  • Leslieville and Riverdale
  • The Annex and Yorkville
  • The Junction and High Park
  • Parkdale and Roncesvalles
  • Danforth and Greektown
  • Midtown, Davisville and Yonge-Eglinton
  • The Beaches

Downtown condo moves

Most downtown Toronto moves are decided by the building rather than the belongings. Buildings
across Liberty Village, King West and the waterfront release the service elevator in fixed time
blocks, often with a deposit and almost always with a certificate of insurance naming the building.
Book the elevator window with your property manager first, then book the crew to match it, because
the window is far harder to change than the crew is. Send us the building’s requirements and the
certificate is ready before moving day.

Our guide to Toronto condo
elevator rules
covers the process in detail, and
condo moving services covers what the crew handles.

Parking a moving truck in Toronto

On many downtown and midtown streets a moving truck cannot simply park at the curb. The City of
Toronto issues temporary street occupation permits for exactly this, and they have to be arranged
before moving day rather than on it. Check the requirement for your street through the
City of Toronto permit service. Where a permit is not possible,
the crew plans a shuttle or a longer carry, which is much easier to price in advance.

Moving to Toronto from outside the GTA

A good share of our Toronto work arrives from outside the city: from Hamilton, Barrie, Kitchener
and further afield, and from other provinces entirely. Those are quoted differently from a local
hourly move. See long-distance moving for how
cross-province routes work, or
the pros and cons of moving to Toronto if you are
still deciding.

Need-to-Know Before You Go

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some simple steps to help you stay organized and stress-free:

  1. Start by decluttering: decide what to keep, donate, or toss
  2. Make a moving checklist to stay organized
  3. Pack early, one room at a time
  4. Gather packing supplies like boxes, tape, and bubble wrap
  5. Notify utility companies and update your address
  6. Arrange care for kids and pets on moving day

It’s best to get in touch with MOVE IT RIGHT as soon as you’ve got your moving date locked in, ideally 6 to 8 weeks in advance. The earlier you book, the more likely you’ll get the date you want, and it gives us plenty of time to help plan everything properly.

You can pack your things on your own if that’s what you prefer; it’s a good way to save some money. But if you’d rather not deal with the hassle, our pros can take care of it! We use high-quality materials and know how to keep your items safe. We have both cardboard and plastic boxes.

Think about how much time you have and whether packing stresses you out, then choose the option that works best for you.

Yes, there are a few things we can’t transport for safety and legal reasons. Things like flammable liquids, explosives, certain chemicals, and food that can spoil. We also don’t transport hot tubs or jacuzzis.

If you’re unsure about something, just ask! We’ll walk you through what’s allowed and help you figure out what to do with the rest.

Life happens, and plans can change. If you need to move your date, just let us know at least 48 hours in advance. We’ll do our best to reschedule and make sure everything still goes smoothly.

We recommend emptying your furniture before the move. Loose items can shift around and cause damage. If you’d rather not pack it all yourself, we offer professional packing services to make sure everything’s safe and secure.

Absolutely. Both our team and our trucks are fully insured, so your belongings are covered if your moving within the GTA. Your peace of mind is important to us.

Early mornings are usually your best bet. Toronto traffic ramps up quickly after 7:30 a.m., especially downtown and near major routes.

Starting early helps us load faster, find parking more easily, and avoid rush-hour slowdowns that can add time (and cost) to your move.

Most one-bedroom condo moves in Toronto take about 3 to 5 hours, depending on elevator access, walking distance from the truck, and how prepared everything is.

Downtown condos with long hallways or shared elevators can add time, but we plan for that.

This is extremely common in Toronto, so we’re used to it.

We’ll assess street parking options in advance and, when needed, help arrange temporary parking permits. Our crews are trained to load efficiently even when the truck isn’t right at the door.

Not at all. We charge by the hour, so there’s no added fee just because you’re including your basement or garage. That said, keep in mind that more stuff means more time, which may affect your final cost.

Downtown Toronto streets can be narrow, busy, and unpredictable.

We choose the right truck size for your location, plan routes carefully, and position the truck to minimize disruption. Experience matters here!

All the time. Toronto’s older homes are charming, but they weren’t built with modern furniture in mind.

Our movers know how to disassemble items when needed, maneuver tight staircases safely, and protect walls, railings, and floors along the way.

Absolutely. Construction is part of everyday life in Toronto, especially in the warmer months. We monitor road closures, plan alternate routes, and build extra time into scheduling when necessary to keep your move on track.

No worries, this happens more often than you’d think in Toronto condos! If the elevator isn’t available right away, we’ll adjust our plan on the spot.

Our team can start with smaller items, prep furniture for quick loading, or even wait efficiently without wasting time. We’ve learned all the tricks to keep your move on schedule, even when elevators don’t play nice.
